Best Diving in Fujairah

While Fujairah is a city known for its excellent shopping and bright, white beaches, some of the most memorable experiences to be had here are actually under the sea! The waters off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are a wonderland of coral reefs, wrecks, underwater boulders and an amazing array of sea life. Here’s what makes Fujairah such a great diving destination.

According to the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), the waters off Fujairah have a lot to offer divers and snorkelers, including moderately good visibility, comfortable water temperatures and abundant wildlife. Some of the best-loved species here include the whale shark (called al djer locally), pufferfish, parrotfish, moray eels, barracuda and numerous coral species.

The unspoiled coasts and well-developed coral reefs—as well as their many shipwreck sites—have made this the place to go in the UAE for diving enthusiasts.

Popular diving sites in this area include:

  • The Inchcape 1: This barge was deliberately sunk in order to create habitat for a stunning variety of marine life. (Watch video)
  • Martini Rock: This protected marine park is known for its pink and purple coral reefs and for wildlife like scorpionfish. (Learn more)
  • Dibba Island: This island is a popular dive site for its extensive coral reefs as well as for its abundance of rays, sharks, turtles, and other marine life. (Learn more)
