The Biosphere at Parc Jean-Drapeau

Plan to spend multiple days at Parc Jean-Drapeau, an enormous public park that spans across two manmade islands. With more than 25 kilometers (over 15 miles) of trails and roads, it offers the perfect path for an afternoon stroll or morning jog. One of the park’s outstanding features is the Montreal Biosphere, a museum built for the Expo 67 World’s Fair. This landmark structure houses educational exhibits that draw attention to some of today’s most pressing environmental issues. If you’re in the mood for a thrill, check out Quebec’s largest amusement park, LaRonde, or Casino de Montreal for gaming—both are located within the Parc grounds.

Gorgeous natural scenery and fun entertainment at Mont-Royal

From the lookout at Mont-Royal, one of Montreal’s most popular parks, you’ll find sweeping views of the city, along with beautiful trees and lakes. Driving is an option, but consider giving your legs a stretch by walking to the summit—it’s a gently sloping path that only takes about 45 minutes.

While visiting Mont-Royal, stop by the Smith House for information about the park and the amazing heritage of the building. If you time your visit on a Sunday morning, you’ll catch a Tam Tam show, which is a lively display of drum skills.

History at Lachine Canal

A series of canals connects the Atlantic Ocean with the heart of North America, and the Lachine Canal comprises an important part of that network. Bike or walk along the 14-km (roughly 8.6 miles) path, or take an audio tour to learn about downtown Montreal attraction’s rich history.

Sports and culture at Parc La Fontaine

Known for captivating natural scenes, the Parc La Fontaine features peaceful lakes, and towering, elegant trees. There is, however, more to this 40-hectare (nearly 99 acre) park, with facilities for tennis, baseball, soccer, volleyball and a dog park. If you’re planning a visit to Montreal in the winter, Parc La Fontaine is one of the best places in the city to go ice skating, with winding paths that create a quiet journey—one that feels worlds away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
