In the downtown area, you’ll find the The River Walk District. This Reno tourist attraction is along the Truckee River and is the place to be during the summer. Numerous stores, restaurants, bars and galleries line the walking area, as well as a whitewater park. You can spend some money and go on the Wine Walk, which is held every third Saturday of the month during the late afternoon. With $20 and a valid photo ID, you get a wine glass and an ID bracelet that lets you sample wine at any of the participating merchants on the Truckee River Walk.
If you’re into cars, and even if you aren’t, the National Automobile Museum is a neat place to stop by. You’ll see more than 200 cars with displays that include authentic street sounds and scenes that really bring each car’s era to life. The museum has sports cars, racecars, classic cars and even some famous celebrity cars. They’re open every day of the week, so go any day and check out the cool rides from the 19th century up to now.
If you drive south of Reno about 40 miles you’ll hit Lake Tahoe, and it’s 100 percent worth the drive. One of the most gorgeous places in the U.S., Lake Tahoe has beautiful clear waters and towering mountains with plenty to see and do while there. If you visit in the winter, you can ski, snowboard or go snowmobiling. Summer is a more popular time to visit because you can swim, paddle board, fish and go boating in the waters, or you can mountain bike or hike on some of the great trails in Lake Tahoe.

For those wanting a fine dining experience, you must go to Lulou’s Restaurant — it’s a little more on the expensive side but locals and tourists rave about it. Their American and European dishes are made with a lot of fresh and local ingredients. Besides great food, this Reno tourist attraction also offers a chic and modern atmosphere. You won’t miss this restaurant as you’re looking for it since its brightly colored building helps it stand out in this part of Reno.
Another nice restaurant in Reno is 4th Street Bistro. This restaurant, which serves dinner five nights a week, has been in operation since June of 2000 serving contemporary American food. They try to source organically whenever they can, and they also offer numerous gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. Besides that, 4th Street Bistro is also a dog-friendly restaurant. So if your dog is leashed and well behaved, then it can accompany you to dinner in their outside dining area.
If you want a cheaper but still delicious meal, then head over to Rosie’s Café, located inside The Nugget. This diner serves great American food, including the famous Awful Awful hamburger that’s been featured on the Travel Channel’s Food Wars television show.
