One of the most authentic clubs in the New Orleans jazz scene is The Spotted Cat Music Club. It’s located in the Faubourg Marigny District, just a few quick steps from the French Quarter. Various live bands perform their hits every day from open to close at this music joint. Although it’s a smaller venue and easily gets packed, it just adds to the energy and overall experience you’ll have here.

Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse

At the Royal Sonesta Hotel is Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse. Irvin Mayfield is a Grammy and Billboard Award-winning Jazz trumpeter, so you know he plays some great tunes here. This spot showcases Mayfield and other jazz talents while serving you tasty cocktails and appetizers. Weeknights until 7:00 p.m. is Playhour where club goers can enjoy $5 drinks and jazz music.

Snug Harbor has provided good food and live jazz music for more than 30 years. It’s not your typical music venue with only one room though. It has a dining room, music room and a bar, so you can move about the rooms depending on your mood that night. Snug Harbor gives you live music seven nights a week, with Charmaine Neville singing soulful R&B on most Mondays.

At Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub you’ll hear plenty of traditional jazz music. Sit and listen, dance or take your turn on stage and play some music in this place’s relaxing atmosphere. Funky Pirate

This pirate-themed bar on Bourbon Street is always lively and amusing with its blues music and other New Orleans-style musical guests. Internationally known bluesman “Big Al Carson” is a big hit here and typically performs at the Funky Pirate six nights a week. Order one of their unique specialty drinks, like the Pirate’s Bloody Mary or Shark Attack, and then laugh and sing along with their nightly entertainment.
