Past meets present in Poland’s capital of culture

Why should you go? Krakow’s old town is steeped in history, much of which has been preserved for visitors and locals alike to enjoy. So well preserved, in fact, that the area is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Venture a few steps from your hotel to explore Central Europe’s largest medieval market square. Just a little way on, you’ll find yourself standing under the stunning Florian Gate. If greenery’s more your thing, find a spot to take the weight off your feet at the Planty Park, growing in what was once the town’s moat. A long day’s exploring will leave the hardiest of historians looking to be fed: keep it traditional at Filipa 18, Hotel Indigo’s restaurant choice, serving delicious Polish cuisine.

It’s Sydney’s second-largest business district, but there are plenty of places in easy reach to explore, including Sydney’s favorite local secrets. You’ll be well-placed to visit Top Ryde City, or pop over to Eastwood, where locals often flock to sample the interesting wares and unique offering of Korean and Chinese food and culture. For something a little calmer, try the nearby bushwalk and earn yourself some tucker at the hotel’s delicious Glasshouse Dining. Here’s more Sydney spots for food, shopping and attractions.
