4. Rustic Canyon

15100 Happy Camp Canyon Rd, Moorpark, CA 93021

Rustic Canyon golf course wasn’t built from detailed drawings; instead it was shaped and sculpted around the natural landscape of the area. Even though the front nine is reasonably flat, its surround by the ridges of rolling hills. Washing near and through many holes on the course is a wide creek, and large areas of grasslands divide many of the holes. Big hitters will appreciate most of the large fairways, while those who need to work on their long-range putting game will be tested on this golf course. Although the front nine is flatter, the Canyon part of this course comes into play on the picturesque back nine.

5. Talega

990 Avenida Talega, San Clemente, CA 92673
Green fees range from $40-110

Found in the hills of San Clemente is the wonderful golfing experience at Talega. On this course, which is laid out in two nine-hole loops around a Spanish-style clubhouse, you will experience some elevation changes and golfing challenges that come along with those changes. Instead of the possibility of hitting into bunkers keeping you on your top golf game, it’s the natural vegetation on and around this course that help keep you focused.
